The Ring of the Nibelung
Exhibition
to The Ring of the Nibelung by Richard Wagner
Cologne Opera
September 26, 2021
On September 26, 2021, not only did "Das Rheingold" and "Die Walküre" premiere in Hall II, but the exhibition about this Ring also opened. I was allowed to conceive, design and realize the exhibition together with the team of the Cologne Opera. The exhibition has several functions.
1. it documents that the Cologne Opera has made major investments in children's opera under the directorship of Dr. Birgit Meyer.
2. it shows how the scenic and musical version is laid out and the underlying directorial and design concept.
3. it shows the artistic development process of the four productions.
4. it shows how theater works from the idea to the realization, through all stages.
5. it shows the work of the wonderful departments of the Bühnen Köln
6. Last but not least, it is also a sign of appreciation to the departments whose work is made transparent.
Every single object in the exhibition tells a story, but every object also demonstrates the great craftsmanship and artistic quality of the trades of the Cologne stages, every single evening of the tetralogy tells of the great care, attention and professionalism at all levels!
