On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Austrian State Treaty, the Danube Waltz is danced in the lower Belvedere. Accordingly to this jubilee, the idea of designing the costumes in the style of the birth of the State Treaty is obvious.
For me as a costume designer, the fashion lines of the 50s are the most beautiful and romantic of the 20th century. The fashion of the 50's was inspired by the fashion of the 2nd half of the 19th century; this builds a bridge to Johann Strauss. for the choreography of the Danube Waltz, a special model was created for each individual lady; all dresses together form the colour scale of the water of the Danube - from light blue to blue-green. The reflections of the sun on the water, the shimmer or shine of the water are translated into the shine and reflection of sequin embroidery.
The entire costume ensemble reflects the probably most sung about and historically rich river, the "Danube, so blue...".
The embroideries were realized in cooperation with the Vorarlberger Embroidery Association.
The gentlemen wear different designed tuxedos.
