NJK 2005 – Fata Morgana
; Performance: 2005
“Fata Morgana” at the Palais Todesco
Choreography: Vladimir Malakhov
Musical Director: Zubin Metha
Choreography: Vladimir Malakhov, Renato Zanella
Costumes for the ballet interludes: Christof Cremer
The choreography of “Fata Morgana” creates, as it were, a 1:4 configuration. One woman is paired with four men. For the costume designer, this presented the challenge of making the woman stand out in a very special way. In keeping with Renato Zanella’s neoclassical style, the woman’s costume is historically inspired but modern in length and design. The costumes incorporate elements reminiscent of the floral and ornamental designs found on the palace’s columns and door paintings. Here, the women and men once again form a contrast: the women’s costume features white-and-silver ornamentation, while the men’s features black-and-gold.
