NJK 2005 – One Heart, One Purpose
Performance: 2005
“One Heart, One Mind” at the Palais Coburg
Choreography: Vladimir Malakhov
Musical Director: Zubin Metha
Choreography: Vladimir Malakhov, Renato Zanella
Costumes for the ballet interludes: Christof Cremer
The costumes for Vladimir Malakhov’s choreography—like the choreographer himself—are rooted in the classical tradition. The dresses were tailored from finely pleated tulle and paired with a draped silk bodice, adorned with roses. The men’s costumes feature hand-painted roses on the vests and in the linings of the open jackets. They reveal their full splendor especially when the dancers spin. The rose motif echoes, as it were, the silk tapestry of the Yellow Salon in the Palais Coburg.
The palette of pastel shades assigned to each dance couple creates a romantic overall effect.
