ART INSTALLATION AT FASTING TIME
"...I was wandering around in a tent dwelling."
(2 Sam. 7.6)
During Lent, altarpieces are veiled in many churches. Only at the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus are
they are visible again. The aim is also to sharpen the focus on the essentials.
In the Ruprechtskirche this year there will be no veiled, but - quite the opposite - something
highlighted, made aware. This should also sharpen the focus on the essential.
Some associations that are possible when looking at the golden foil:
Canopies have been around for centuries. On the one hand they were sun protection for the
Ruler and a clear sign of where his place, his seat is.
The Christians also took over the canopy as a sign of honour - for bishops, the pope and
later also as "heaven" above the tabernacle or during processions.
King David has the ark of the covenant, the sign of "I am there", brought into a tent. The tent becomes so
the place where God lives.
In the text of the Revelation in the New Testament we read: "Then I heard a loud voice from the
