"Re-telling myths - making magical moments possible"

I live and work as a freelance costume and stage designer in Vienna and work in numerous European theaters in the fields of musical theater, spoken theater, musicals and operetta, as well as ballet and dance. The abstract stage sets I design are spaces for thinking and offer directors an enormous variety of possibilities. For me, stage spaces are always "narrative spaces" - they enable, support and inspire the play. My stage spaces are spaces that speak and can be experienced through both abstract emptiness and baroque opulence.

My activity as a costume designer is similar to that of a sculptor; the main idea is the creation of a three-dimensional form of the figure, as an expression of its character. My costume ideas mostly arise from the isolation of a historical silhouette. The costumes are not only garments on stage - they are part of the whole, part of the story. They are well thought through covers that are being played with on the stage. The characters together with dramatic power of singers, actors or dancers reveal, carry a movement and simultaneously contain surprises.

The aim of my work is to render that particular „magical moment“, in which the music, representation, space and costume unite in the mind of the spectator, palpable. I perceive the spectators and their fantasy also as performers of the theatrical scenery. Similarly to the religion, in the theatrical field, I am interested in the place where the knowledge shifts into ancestry, feeling, assumption and belief. The perfect theater moment is when thinking is replaced by feeling and yet everything is becomes clear.
